Ralph W. Shrader Diversity Scholarship

Next Deadline:

February 15, 2010

The Ralph W. Shrader Diversity Scholarship was developed to provide educational opportunities for talented individuals pursuing advanced degrees at the master's level and to acknowledge and honor the unique contributions of Dr. Ralph W. Shrader, the only AFCEA Chairman of the Board to be elected to two different two-year terms.  Dr. Shrader championed increased opportunities for women and minorities in the communications and electronics fields.

The AFCEA Educational Foundation is grateful to Booz Allen Hamilton for providing the initial investment to establish the Dr. Ralph W. Shrader Scholarship fund.

The Ralph W. Shrader Diversity Scholarship will be provided directly to the winner and is in addition to any other funds which the student may receive.  Presentation will be made by a representative from the AFCEA Educational Foundation and whenever possible, Dr. Shrader or a designated representative from Booz Allen Hamilton.

Scholarships of $3,000 each will be awarded to full-time graduate students currently working toward a master's degree in the following or related fields of electrical, electronics, chemical, systems or communications engineering; physics; mathematics; computer science; computer technology; or management information systems.  Majors directly related to the support of U.S. intelligence or national security enterprises with relevance to the mission of AFCEA will also be eligible.

Please Note: Distance Learning or Online Programs will not qualify.

Eligibility:

Candidate must be a U.S. citizen currently enrolled full time in a master's degree program at an accredited university in the United States.  Primary consideration will be given for demonstrated academic excellence.

Important:

PLEASE NOTE: At least two letters of recommendation printed on school stationery with signature will be required from field-of-study professors.

Please address letters to:

Mr. Fred H. Rainbow

AFCEA Educational Foundation

An official transcript reflecting all college-level study will also be required. These items can be sent separately but must arrive by the deadline date.

The AFCEA Graduate School scholarships seek to reward excellence for demonstrated effort at the master's level of study, rather than the potential for such excellence. Please read the requirements carefully to determine specific eligibility before submitting an application.
